La Pitchoune is the charming cottage that Julia Child built as a gift to herself and her husband Paul Child, using a portion of proceeds from her seminal Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

Situated in the hills above Côte d'Azur, "La Peetch" became a beloved refuge from their demanding public life back in the U.S. They were consummate hosts, welcoming friends, including M.F.K. Fisher, Richard Olney, and James Beard himself!

Current proprietors Makenna Held and Chris Nylund maintain La Peetch as a vacation rental and cooking school, their way of celebrating and sharing this incredible legacy. La Peetch retains some of the historic touches and details Julia installed, including her signature pegboard kitchen, but has been updated in an upscale Provencal style.

The cottage has 4 guest rooms with ultra-deluxe bedding, furnishings, and en suite bathrooms; luxury toiletries and bathroom linens; a fully stocked professional kitchen; and an ample book and cookbook library.

The breathtaking grounds of La Peetch include gardens, outdoor kitchen, heated salt-water pool, and a pétanque court. Plenty of nooks and crannies provide serene spots to savor a glass of rosé while taking in the view. Located in the village of Plascassier, 20 minutes from Cannes and 35 minutes from the Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, La Peetch is perfectly situated to explore the region and the French Riviera.
