Forage-to-Fork Dinner is a delightful culinary adventure that bridges the gap between nature and your plate.
Guests will embark on an educational hike through the woods on the grounds of Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, guided by expert foragers Chef Tanner Hammond, The Mushroom Man, and Natasha Freeman from Bee-Lightful Botanicals. You will explore and discover hidden treasures of edible plants, wild berries, earthy mushrooms, and more as you forage the natural landscape.
Armed with baskets and a sense of wonder, guests gather their finds as they learn to differentiate between edible plants and their look-alike counterparts. The forest becomes your grocery store, and every leaf or berry holds potential for the night's feast.
At sunset, guests will return to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo's Savannah Manor, share their discoveries, and collaborate to transform their wild finds into culinary delights.
A full meal will be prepared with dishes inspired by the day's foraging harvest. Guests will learn the folklore of each plant, its healing properties, and ancient uses.
The Forage to Fork Dinner will be a one-of-a-kind experience that allows guests to experience a deeper connection to the earth that nourishes both body and soul.
