Signed Shepard Fairey Art
$550Op-Art Icon (Green), 2024 - Value: $750
Framed
Signed Artist Proof, 18 " x 24". Screen print on thick cream Speckletone paper. Framed.
This print is what started it all for Shepard Fairey's wildly successful career as an artist, an activist and an icon. Andre the Giant is the face that surreptitiously showed up on city walls and ultimately took residence in the minds of the world. This iconic piece is priceless.
Donated by the world renowned street artist and social change advocate Shepard Fairey. His art is collected by major museums like the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and the Art Institute of Chicago.
From the Artist: In the early '90s, I fell in love with '60s psychedelic posters from artists like San Francisco's Victor Moscoso, Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, and Rick Griffin, as well as LA's John Van Hamersveld. I was especially drawn to the op-art patterns and color theory used in psychedelic art. I had been making black and white Andre stickers for a couple of years, and I decided it was time to branch out with some playful backgrounds and color theory, so I began experimenting with op-art patterns and intense vibrating colors. Part of the fun was the journey of improving at color theory, and the other part was seeing the polarizing reactions to the psychedelic Andre stickers. Some people thought they were annoying, even nauseating, while others found them exhilarating. Considering my prior punk-rock-minimalism, some people saw the color and style as a betrayal! These Op-Art Icon prints are nostalgic in some ways and of-the-moment in others. They relate to my early '90s explorations but push a lot further with the way the colors weave through the Icon Face image and have the effect of subtle translucency through the spray paint texture. I always have fun finding new ways to use some of my staple images, like the Icon Face, because repetition with evolution is an important principle for the Obey Giant campaign.

Signed Shepard Fairey Art
$400Obey Deco Floral Pattern (Blue), 2024 - Value: $750
Signed Artist Proof, 18 " x 24". Screen print on thick cream Speckletone paper. Framed.
Donated by the world renowned street artist and social change advocate Shepard Fairey. His art is collected by major museums like the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and the Art Institute of Chicago.
From the Artist: I have enjoyed designing wallpaper patterns for about 20 years. They began as a way to add a pleasing decorative element to my fine art pieces as well as a device to use in my large scale modular street installations that would serve as a rhythmic break between grids of smaller posters and larger scale images. As I became better at designing patterns my goal became to make a pleasing stand-alone image for each tile of the wallpaper grid, but also to make sure the repeating pattern worked well. I'm a big fan of early Art Deco which retained some of the curves of the Art Nouveau style but evolved it to be more simple and structuredââ'¬Â¦ it's from this era of Art Deco that this pattern takes its inspiration.

Signed Shepard Fairey Art
$750The Woman Who Defeated Pain (Frida Kahlo), 2023 - Value: $750
A touching tribute to Frida Kahlo - an iconic Shepard Fairey signed artist proof for your collection.
Signed Artist Proof, 18 " x 24". Screenprint on cream Speckle Tone paper. Framed. Donated by the world renowned street artist and social change advocate Shepard Fairey. His art is collected by major museums like the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and the Art Institute of Chicago.
From the Artist: I've long admired Frida Kahlo's art, and the more I have learned about her over the years, the more I admire her as a feminist trailblazer and thinker. During her lifetime Kahlo faced serious discrimination for being a female artist and was often seen as "the wife of famous muralist Diego Rivera...who also paints." Since her death, Kahlo's esteem in the art world has grown significantly due in part to evolving attitudes about women's roles in society, but I think largely because her paintings are so evocative and memorable. I love that Kahlo adopted the philosophy after a severe bus crash injury at age 18 that art can help overcome hardship and that we should turn misfortune into a source of energy and inspiration to grow spiritually and do good things. Kahlo is frequently the subject of her work, and she uses roots, flowers, and foliage to represent history, unity between humans, and human connection to the earth. I celebrate Kahlo as someone who was unique in her paintings, fashion, and how she processed her challenges and navigated the world.

$775Universal Dignity, 2022 - Value: $750
A stunning artist proof for the astute art collector.
From the Artist: The "Universal Dignity" print aims to promote peace, equality, and humanity. I'd like to see a fundamental assumption that ALL people deserve respect and human dignity. This applies to the universal meaning of dignity, to be valued, respected for what you are, what you believe in, and how you live your life. I consider myself a global citizen, and though I think the nations serve a structural function, all people should be equal, and everyone's life counts the same regardless of where they live. Thanks for caring.
