DESERT FLOWER
Cora Glasser
2003
16"x20"
Encaustic, oil and paper on wood panel

Cora Glasser is an abstract artist who draws inspiration from urban architecture and structural elements, exploring how construction and deconstruction inform tensions between old and new, solid and void, and presence and absence.

Glasser began her career as an artist in the early 2000s, showcasing her work in museums and galleries across the United States and in Berlin. Glasser works with various mediums, with many of her pieces using encaustic painting, a process where pigmented hot wax is applied to wood panels, allowing for layering, dimension, and texture.

Accolades:

In 2008, Glasser was a finalist to have her MTA Arts for Transit submission permanently installed as the tile work in the renovated 180th St subway station in Manhattan.

In 2018, Glasser was commissioned to develop a large scale permanent glass installation in the lobby of a newly developed building in New York City.

Glasser lives and works in New York City.
