 About Anthony Wayne

A man of many sides as an actor, producer and creator, Anthony Wayne has been blessed to do what he's been born to do. Originally from Norfolk, Virginia and a graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory (2003), Mr. Wayne has recently been seen on Broadway singing "Let's Stay Together" as Raymond, Tina Turner's first love interest in "TINA - THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL. His additional Broadway credits include "TOOTSIE - The Musical", "ANYTHING GOES", "PIPPIN", "ONCE ON THIS ISLAND" and "PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT". His touring credits include "A CHORUS LINE" as Richie Walters, "THE COLOR PURPLE" and "FAME-THE MUSICAL" as Tyrone Jackson.

After sold out runs Off-Broadway and across the country, he is working on bringing his show "MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL" to Broadway; the musical based on the life of 1970's disco legend SYLVESTER. In "MIGHTY REAL", Mr. Wayne stars as the SYLVESTER and has co-written the show as well. "MIGHTY REAL" is under the umbrella of the producing company ANTHONYKEN, LLC. which has spawned additional shows such as the biographical musical "AN EVENING WITH PHYLLIS HYMAN", the 1970's Soul Train inspired annual holiday show "A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS" and the stand out cabaret show "KINGS & QUEENS OF SOUL".

Mr. Wayne resides in Harlem, New York and contributes his time inspiring Black men of the Broadway and theatre community to find the greatness within themselves to be great daily. That work inspired him to found the 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization "BLACK BROADWAY MEN" which celebrates, educates, and motivates black men of the Broadway & theatre community by creating unity within each other, finding strength through educational opportunities and embraces the legacy of those that have come before us because we are the legacy for those to come after.

He is a firm believer of creating moments and memories with those he truly cares about and makes time with his chosen & blood family a priority. He, also, believes that the stage is his platform to allow his light to shine bright and his voice to be loud. That inspiration drives him to shine that light no matter what.

About the O'Neill

Founded in 1964 by George C. White and named in honor of Eugene O'Neill, four-time Pulitzer Prize-winner and America's only playwright to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, the O'Neill has launched some of the most important voices and works in American theater and has revolutionized the way new work is developed.

O'Neill programs include the National Playwrights Conference, National Music Theater Conference, National Critics Institute, National Puppetry Conference, Cabaret & Performance Conference, National Theater Institute - which offers six credit-earning undergraduate training programs -  and more.

From its campus in Waterford, Connecticut, the O'Neill has been home to more than 1,000 new works for the stage and thousands more emerging artists. Writers, directors, puppeteers, singers, students, and audiences alike take their first steps in exploring, revising, and understanding their work and the potential of the theater they help create. All focus remains on the writer and script: Performers work with simply rendered sets and costumes, script in hand, revealing for the first time the magic of a new play or musical, puppetry piece, or cabaret act.

The O'Neill also manages and operates the Monte Cristo Cottage, O'Neill's childhood home located in neighboring New London.  It is also the recipient of two Tony Awards and in 2015 received the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama.
