VICTORY OUTSIDE THE ARENA

HOW ATHLETES CAN GO FROM ISOLATED TO INSPIRED ONCE THE APPLAUSE BEGINS TO FADE

Author: Bill Burke

Nick Saban, 7-time National Champion Head Coach commented: "A powerful playbook for the game of life."

------------

"As former athletes, we all know what it's like to face the end of our time inside the arena. I'm sure you can recall in vivid detail the last time you took the uniform off and more importantly, the feelings that came with that.

I'm guessing you can also recall the feeling of uncertainty that came with trying to navigate the months and years after your career ended.

Without the daily competition, routine and camaraderie, life looked a lot different.

Some athletes handle the transition smoothly, while many others struggle mightily to figure out who they are without their identity as an athlete. Then, if and when they do get their feet under them, they wonder if they are truly reaching their full potential in life.

Through the author's experiences and the conversations he's had over the years with others, this is a problem that doesn't get discussed nearly enough. and while there is more awareness now, countless athletes continue to suffer in silence."

--------------

Bill Burke is a former Division 1 quarterback who contributed to victories in some of the biggest athletic arenas in the country and heled Michigan State finish his senior season ranked #7 in the nation. He is now dedicated to helping former athletes become all they're capable of becoming in their personal development, careers, and relationships. He is a husband, father, and a Spartan.

Excerpt from the book:

"Then there are times when athletes step into the arena with more on their minds than their personal sense of achievement. Sometimes, the individual players or entire teams realize that the meaning of the mission they are working on extends far beyond wins, losses, and statistics."

"Take the Chicago Cubs, for example. The long-suffering Major League Baseball club from the Windy City won the World Series in 2016. The victory came 108 years after their last championship. During that century-plus stretch, the Cubs had become synonymous with the idea of losing. Every spring, the die-hard fans would suppress their hope for the coming season, believing the current season would just be a carbon copy of the one before."
