ALLEGRA HANGEN is a multidisciplinary artist, independent curator, and cultural organizer based in Mexico City and Omaha, Nebraska. Working with/in installation, experimental film, photography, sculpture, sound, and archives, her practice takes on social and cultural themes, focusing primarily on the social effects of images and architecture. She implements processual feedback loops, glitches, erasure, and research as tools to question and subvert images and text, or to create new intuitive imaginations. She has exhibited internationally in places like the Giardini della Biennale in Venice, Museo Vizcainas Mexico City in collaboration with El Museo del Barrio NYC, the Salina Biennial in Kansas, Fred Simon Gallery in Omaha, and Salon Silicon in Mexico City. Past residencies and fellowships include The Luminary, The Lab Program, and Inside/Outside Fellowship at the Union for Contemporary Art.
