NEIL GRIESS is a visual artist based in Omaha, Nebraska. He creates realistic paintings and drawings of landscapes such as preserved prairies and suburban spaces of personal significance. Through a combination of meticulous detail and soft distortion effects, the often overlooked beauty of the Great Plains is given a heightened focus. Griess has exhibited his work in the San Francisco Bay Area and in the Midwest, including at the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, Nebraska. He won awards for solo exhibitions through the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards in 2016 and 2023, as well as a Merit Award through the Nebraska Arts Council in 2016. His work has appeared in print in New American Paintings in 2015 as well as the textbook Art for Everyone from Oxford University Press, published in 2022. Griess received his BFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his MFA in Art Practice from Stanford University. He teaches as an Instructor at University of Nebraska Omaha.
