RUSSELL BRAUSCH, an interdisciplinary artist whose work spans oil painting, ceramics, and sculpture, has been deeply influenced by the contrasting landscapes of Maine and Colorado, where he spent his formative years. These environments have played a pivotal role in shaping his artistic practice, which centers on themes of forest conservation and wildfire. His focus is on the changing landscape that embraces fire on landscape as a tool, like how Indigenous populations used fire for thousands of years to create a vibrant ecosystem. Russell's academic journey in the arts began at Creighton University, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts. He is currently pursuing an MFA at Montana State University, where he is currently in his third year and serves as an instructor in addition to his studies.
