JAMES BOCKELMAN is a professor of art at Concordia University Nebraska where he also serves as director of the Marxhausen Gallery of Art. He has been represented by Lo River Arts Gallery in Beacon, New York, the Karolyn Sherwood Gallery in Des Moines, and is currently represented by Circuitous Succession Gallery in Memphis, Modern Arts Midtown in Omaha, and Galerie Inga Kondeyne in Berlin. In addition to many regional and national group shows, Bockelman's art was featured in solo exhibitions at the Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln, the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, the University of Nebraska Omaha, and the Kunstoffice in Berlin. A recipient of Nebraska Arts Fellowship Awards in 2007 and 2015, his paintings were selected for the group exhibition Art Seen: A Juried Exhibition at the Joslyn Museum of Art. Recently, Bockelman's artworks were presented at Hastings University Art Gallery, Nebraska, at the Drawing Room in Hamburg, Germany, the Festival du Dessin in Arles, France, as well as the Pavillon am Milchhof in Berlin. Bockelman earned an MFA in painting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1997.
