KRISTINE HANSEN-CAIN received a BFA from the University of Nebraska and studied at the Corcoran School of Fine Arts in Washington, DC. Pivoting from a long career in medicine, she turned to a full-time career in the arts in 2014. She has participated in studio intensives at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado and is a current artist mentor for the Girl Scouts, Nebraska Chapter. A strong theme in Hansen-Cain's work is painting subtle grid-like repetitive imagery from often overlooked vantage points such as from a third-story window. Her intent for this unexpected visual perspective and repeated art elements is to move viewers outside their normal sphere of thought, evoking alternative insights and novel ways of viewing our shared humanity. Her work is included in many permanent public and private collections across the United States. She lives and works in Omaha.
