Private Tour of the Laramie Foothills Bison Conservation Herd
You will receive a private tour of the bison pastures at Soapstone Prairie Natural Area and Red Mountain Open Space where the members of the Laramie Foothills Conservation herd roam.
Dr. Jennifer Barfield, the scientific lead for the project, will take you into the bison pastures (~2700 acres) to get as close as possible to the herd. This area is not open to the public.
The tour will be given from a car as we do not get out and walk around among the bison. There is a limit of 4 people for the tour as that is all that will fit in Dr. Barfield's car and two cars together often spook the bison. The trip could be combined with hiking and mountain biking on the property before or after the tour. There is also a picnic area by the bison pasture for a little relaxation and refreshment.
The property is approximately 20 miles north of Fort Collins. No pets are allowed on the property, even in cars.
Don't forget your camera! You'll want to remember this PRICELESS experience!
