This 2023 Masters Flag signed by Native Topekan Gary Woodland and donated by his mother Linda Woodland is a treasured piece of sports memorabilia. Packaged inside a clear plastic sleeve with snap closure, the autographed flag comes with a mint condition 2023 Masters Spectator Guide.
In September 2023, Woodland underwent surgery to remove a brain lesion and returned to competitive golf four months later. Making his 12th Masters appearance this year, he drew a huge ovation for making a hole in one in The Masters' annual par-3 contest.
In 2023, Woodland opened with 68 for his lowest round at Augusta National and went on to finish T-14 to record his best performance in the Masters. He recorded additional top 25s in Los Angeles, Charlotte, Scotland and the Memorial Tournament last year. Woodland won the 2019 U.S. Open by three strokes over two-time defending champion Brooks Koepka. He joined the list of major champions at Pebble Beach that also includes Jack Nicklaus, Lanny Wadkins, Tom Watson, Tom Kite, Tiger Woods and Graeme McDowell.
Woodland was born in Topeka, attended Shawnee Heights High School and the University of Kansas on a golf scholarship. He had a successful college golf career, winning four tournaments before turning professional in 2007.
