Enjoy stimulating conversation and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Discovery Lab with Dr. Patrick Lyden, a world-renowned pioneer in the treatment of strokes. Discuss the latest progress in understanding stroke, including the development of effective therapies and new pathways to brain health and stroke recovery with Dr. Lyden and other fantastic stroke scholars like Allison Brookshier, PhD and Mozammel Bhuiyanor, PhD.
Dr. Lyden is the Professor of Physiology & Neuroscience and Neurology in the Keck School of Medicine at USC and the Chair of the Stroke Council of the American Heart Association. His current work is built on a foundation of scientific milestones, including: First and only treatment for stroke: In 1995, a landmark study co-led by Dr. Lyden published in the New England Journal of Medicine resulted in the first-ever FDA approval of a treatment for stroke. The treatment, tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), is an engineered protein that dissolves blood clots. When administered quickly after the symptoms of certain strokes appear, tPA can restore blood flow to the brain and reverse some of the stroke's effects. TPA is now the international standard treatment for acute ischemic stroke-the most frequent stroke type.
The FMV (Fair Market Value) is $150.
A transaction fee of 3.5% will be added to all final winning bids and donations.
