You can still participate in the auction! In 1902, thirteen women who called themselves the "Baker's Dozen" came together to provide comfort and care in the homes of people in Cleveland, many of whom were immigrants living in poverty. Despite many of them not having any formal training as nurses, they bravely and boldly stepped out of the traditional role for women at their time to create what is likely one of Cleveland's first women-founded businesses. This was at a time when women had yet not achieved the right to vote in this country, and the idea of a woman working outside the home (let alone running a business) was unheard of.
Blazing a trail for the future of public health care in Cleveland has led to over a century of breaking down barriers and pioneering community-based health care efforts by VNA of Ohio's leaders and clinicians. Today, thousands of lives in Northeast Ohio have been touched by our care in the home and the community. To continue fulfilling our mission to address difficult and challenging health disparities in Northeast Ohio, we need a village in our community to care and support one another.
Our annual fundraiser, Treasures of Cleveland helps VNA of Ohio raise vital funds and awareness for our community based health care program that reach thousands of residents of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio every year.
