Frankie Krupa Vahdani, Sheep Shears, 2024, Wax pastel on wood, 38.5" x 38.25" x 2"

Frankie Krupa Vahdani (b. 1991, she/her) works and lives in Skagit Valley, WA. Krupa Vahdani graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Art and has exhibited work at Geheim Gallery in Bellingham, WA, The Warehouse Art Museum in Milwaukee, WI and Fuller Rosen Gallery in Portland, OR and Philadelphia, PA.

FKVs work explores a person's relationship to heritage and destructive historical events. The reinterpretation of classic Persian motifs alongside traditional Polish craft results in phosphorescent, color soaked works. These new works reflect back thoughts of:

RESILIENCE

Resilience of material

Resilience of spirit

Resilience of human

Motherhood

Caring

Caregiving

Caregiving as an art practice

Healing

Scooping up + holding close

In a tight and warm space.

My arms wrapped around my daughter

My arms holding a hot ball of emotion and anger

Compassion
