Lisa McShane, North from Samish, 2024, Oil on linen on aluminum, 24" x 30", Smith & Vallee Gallery
McShane creates large, luminous landscapes of deep water, wet sand, forests, and rivers. She has worked for years in environmental policy and politics in Washington and in her paintings you can see a record of places, water and land she works to protect. She's had residencies in National Parks, and her paintings have been exhibited in the American Embassy in Yemen and the Washington State Governor's Mansion. Her recent paintings of climate change for Surge 2023 will be displayed at the Washington State Treasurer's Office. Lisa's studio is on Samish Island.
