Ann Chadwick Reid, Vortex, 2017, Hand cut paper and map pins, 50" x 50" x 2"
Ann Chadwick Reid's hand cut paper is as fragile as the environment and intended to celebrate the special nature and remarkable diversity of her intertidal home on Padilla Bay as well as other regions in the Pacific Northwest. Her artwork addresses the impact of human activities on whole ecosystems as well as individual species and she believes the challenge is for communities to initiate and support conversations that lead to just cooperation and sustainable solutions. Winner of a 2024 Artists Trust SOLA Award, she also received an Artist Trust GAP grant in 2010 and attended the Brush Creek Ranch Residency in 2017. Her work can be seen in the collection of Kent City Hall, Kent, WA., Island Hospital, Anacortes, WA., Skagit Regional Clinics, Mount Vernon, WA., King County Public Art Collection, WA., and the Stephens Permanent Collection at the Jundt Museum, Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA.
