From the Executive Director

Dear Friends of MoNA,

The Museum Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, and the entire staff look forward to seeing you in La Conner for a spellbinding experience of art and community at this year's 32nd Museum of Northwest Art's Annual Art Auction!

Starting May 24 through June 8, museum patrons will have the chance to preview the more than 300 artworks featured in the auction, whether in person by visiting the Museum galleries or online with this beautifully designed auction catalog. More importantly, I look forward to you joining us for the live event on Saturday, June 8th when we will celebrate together the extraordinary power of art and creativity to move, change, and transform our lives!

With free admission year-round, MoNA is committed to being a welcoming place, where all members of the community experience belonging. MoNA strives to be a place in which connecting through the experience of art can lead to a greater understanding of the human condition. The last 12 months will go on record as a period of records: in 2023, MoNA welcomed 33,915 visitors! This outstanding result was possible thanks to the exceptional quality and scholarship of the exhibitions and outreach programs. The success of the exhibitions was mirrored by the momentum we witnessed in the Education programs with the overall growth of quantity and quality of programs ranging from art classes and workshops to lectures and panels. In addition, MoNA Link-an invaluable program which provides comprehensive art education for students from Pre-K to High school, in school districts throughout Skagit, Whatcom and Island Counties-celebrated its 20th anniversary: a remarkable sign of longevity which speaks to the ability of the Museum to meet the needs of students and teachers where they are.

Every year, the MoNA's Annual Art Auction is really where the magic happens: friends of the museum and art lovers come together with the community of amazing artists to raise the funds needed to support the Museum's exhibitions, important art collection, and transformative educational and outreach programs

Without this event and without your generous support, MoNA would not be able to continue to celebrate and honor the legacy of the Northwest School's Masters and Mystics through exhibitions drawn from the collection; present unique exhibitions of contemporary artists who engage in creating art that responds to the world events as they impact the Northwest community; and share empowering experiences with youth and adults through life-changing educational programs.

Like in the past, this year also, I am asking you to bid generously on the art and to raise the paddle to Fund-the-Future when the moment comes because the museum's future and the future of a thriving community are woven together.

I want to thank the community of artists and collectors for their generosity and deep commitment to supporting MoNA. I'd like to thank all the sponsors of the event for their support, as well as the Board of Trustees for their dedication and guidance, the MoNA staff for their talent and professionalism, and finally the host of volunteers for giving MoNA their time and expertise.

My deepest gratitude goes to the Art Auction Procurement team: Earlene Beckes, Lucy Mae VanZanden, and Meg Holgate for their hard work, incredible dedication, and discerning taste.

And to YOU, our dedicated supporters, friends, and mission champions! It is because of your sense of community that makes it possible for MoNA to spread its wings!

Bid often and bid high!

Warmest,
