Jess Batalucco is known around the YMOW office as, Cookie. She once worked for YMOW, and is still a supportive volunteer. Several of her Gnomes have taken up permanent residence in the office, they make the staff smile and may help with the cleaning when no one is around. Cheri Graham-Smith, a YMOW client, uses coloring books to maintain her mental health and fine motor skills.
24"X36" framed acrylic on canvas. This painting is an abstract treatment of a chain tensioner as originally depicted by Morse Chain in the early 1950s.
David Seccombe was born in 1930 and recently passed in November 2022. Prior to living at Westbeth, NY, David had a loft in the Village with an attic studio. His sculptures were put together and lowered out a window to the street. He showed at the Brata Gallery, a co-op on 3rd Ave. Later, his work was exhibited in Bridgehampton, L.I., Battery Park, Penns Landing, PA, the Detroit Institute of Art, O.K. Harris gallery and others. He is a recipient of support from Pollock-Krasner Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts and the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb award. Both of his pieces were donated from the collection of Dan Carleton, YMOW board member and David's brother-in-law.
Carved Bass Wood 10.5" The artist likes witches. They are mysterious, fun, and mischiefs. This one appeals to him because she is smiling and has a twinkle in her eye.
Malcolm Shaffner started painting with in oils, but did not enjoy the dry time. he has also tried working with the Chelsea Wood Carvers. He ended up meeting Floyd Rhadigain who teaches wood carving in Tecumseh. The two really clicked. Bass wood is easy to carve when you have a great teacher. Malcolm and Floyd carved together with and great ideas flowing. His favorite part is painting the piece, he sees it as bringing the statue to life.

A note from the club's trusted leader, Dani O'Brien ; We're calling our pieces "Spring Serendipity II" the creative process incorporated using beautiful pieces of hand-made paper as our palettes, then crafting them in interesting amorphic shapes using scissors and arranging them to create these little works of art. The smaller pieces were initially created as cards for Meals on Wheels patrons to receive. We worked on this project for months and came up with some beautiful little jewels that just screamed to be shown as artwork.
