Bruce Lowe graduated from OSU & attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He moved to LA in 1977 after Stevie Wonder called & asked Bruce to help him produce The Secret Life of Plants album, using the newest technologies in 1977, Digital Recording & Synthesizers! Bruce will tell fun & interesting, behind-the-scenes stories about making hit songs with:
Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Michael McDonald, Billy Preston, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Quincy Jones, Andrae Crouch, Madonna, Julio Iglesias, & more!
Following his stories, Bruce & the band will play those hit songs we know & love as we dance & sing along.
2023 WCS Report Card - Challenges & Improvement
17.7% Are Students With Disabilities. 44% Students are Black. 18% Students are White.
10% Students are Multi Racial. 28% are Hispanic (highest in Franklin County, 7th in the state).
18.5% are English Language Learners, whose families speak 24 different languages.
2-Stars in Graduation & Achievement. 2 Stars in Literacy (from 1 Star in 2022).
5-Stars in Gap Closing & Progress Growth (1 of only 7 Ohio school districts to receive 5 Stars!).
WCS Pre-K Expansion
WCS Superintendent, Dr. Sharee Wells, was hired in January 2021. In 2022, WCS kindergarten readiness ranked LAST in Franklin County's 16 school districts. In 2023, Dr. Wells & WCS partnered with Head Start & YMCA to offer Full-Day Pre-K classes. In the 2023-24 school year, WCS increased Pre-K full-time students from zero (0) to 125 full-time students!!
WCS 5-Year Strategic Plan
WCS is on a journey to shape its future by 2029 for its 3,000 students. The Board of Education & a leadership team, steering committee, focus groups, & community surveys, will play a pivotal role in designing & crafting this 5-year strategic plan. This Strategic Plan will encompass comprehensive goals & multiple objectives, measures, initiatives, & action plans. This plan will align with the district's mission & vision, reflecting the aspirations & needs of the community it serves. It is expected to be approved in the spring/summer of 2024.
Why Sponsor WYAA's B4F Benefit Concert?
In July 2023, WYAA raised $30k in 30 Days to help fund new playground equipment for WCS's Pre-K School.
WYAA wants to continue supporting WCS with educational projects & programs not funded by the District's operating budget for its 2024-25 school year.
WYAA is a 501.c.3 Non-profit organization.

The VALLEY DALE BALLROOM
The Valley Dale Ballroom is on the National Historic Registry & was a major venue during the "Big Band" musical era of the 1930's & 40's. Many famous Big Bands & entertainers who performed at this venue, include: Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby.
