Darnell has overcome many medical challenges, including being born 17 weeks early and being hospitalized over 8 months. Even so, life can be a bit confusing when you don't always understand what people are saying and have trouble remembering.

Darnell thrives with connection and didn't really find his place until his family found Community Connections. The bonds he formed with the coaches, volunteers, and teammates gave him a sense of belonging. His coaches encouraged and supported him, even when he went left when they said right. Over the last 11 years Darnell has participated in RUFL Football, TOP soccer, basketball, tennis, triathlon, bowling, art, sports camp, teen game group, and the Young Adult Social Group.

He gained the confidence to believe he could do anything. Darnell is now a self-taught pianist who plays by ear and enjoys playing in the community and bringing music to people. You can follow his music on Facebook or You Tube at Piano for Life.
