Brunello di Montalcino is made with a local Tuscan type of Sangiovese referred to as Brunello or Sangiovese Grosso. It is the wine that most wine critics cite to be "the best in all of Italy."
Brunello produces wines with exceptionally bold fruit flavors, high tannin, and high acidity. The fruit contributes to the enduring popularity of Brunello di Montalcino. Still, it's the tannins and acidity that extend the life of this wine, reaching perfection a decade or more later. It's well worth the wait… but for you the wait is over!
This classic trio is plum for the pickin' and savoring. Each is aged right in their sweet spot, offering the opportunity to enjoy them now or hold on to them a little longer.
Lambardi 2017 - Pt. Rating: 93
Aromas of scorched earth, leather and underbrush mingle with whiffs of cedar and fruitcake on this big, bold red. While it reflects the heat of the scorching vintage, it also has charm and polish, delivering savory flavors of fleshy black cherry, tobacco, star anise and hints of cranberry framed in taut, fine-grained tannins. Drink through 2029. Kerin O'Keefe - Wine Enthusiast
Tenimenti Capanne Ricci Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - Pt. Rating: 94
