If you like history, star-gazing, mysteries, wildlife or beautiful landscapes, this is the trip for you! Enjoy the cool, crisp air of the Davis Mountains in Marfa, Texas, with your hosts, Ford and Abbie Sasser. You and three of your friends will fly in a private plane to Marfa on Friday, October 18, and stay the next 3 nights in a two-story home, built in the early 1900's to resemble the Texas Governor's mansion in Austin. The historic Main House was built in 1913 and completely restored in 2014. It's absolutely stunning anytime of the day or year!
After breakfast on Saturday, enjoy a scenic drive to Fort Davis and tour the Fort's original, national historic site. Following the tour you will visit "Prada Marfa". Later in the afternoon, delight in a tour of the ranch glimpsing wildlife including aoudad sheep and prong horns, which are native to the Trans-Pecos Area.
Dine in Marfa at Cochineal for a tasting experience not to miss, then the dazzling and mysterious "Marfa Lights" will close out your evening.
Sunday morning's tour includes more time in pristine nature, with mountains as far as you can see and more wildlife. A private tour of the McDonald Observatory, which is 6,000 feet in elevation, will engage your afternoon. Sup in Fort Davis that night and then head back to the McDonald Observatory for a prized Star Gazing Party. The weekend concludes with a special breakfast Monday.
