A personal tour of the Tennessee
Bicentennial Mall with Kem Hinton, the
award-winning architect of the Mall

Dedicated in 1996, the Bicentennial Mall is one of the most unique places in Music City. Designed to provide a grand view of the State Capitol while celebrating the Land, Music, & People of Tennessee, the 19-acre urban park includes a fascinating variety of open spaces, educational features, and symbolic elements. These include an enormous granite State Map, Railroad Trestle, 31-fountain Riverwall, Walkway of Counties, 1400-ft-long Pathway of History, Civil War Plaza, McNairy Spring, Tennessee World War II Memorial, and 95-bell Carillon.

Architect Kem Hinton, lead designer of the Mall, provides an informative tour of the park that begins at the big map and concludes at the Court of Three Stars. Along this experience, he describes not only the numerous features but also many of the behind-the-scenes facts, features, mysteries, and (yes) strange
myths that make this place a special and memorable destination.

Tour group size can range from a few individuals to 50+. Average time of tour is approximately 90 minutes.
