Charlynda Scales is a serial entrepreneur: She serves as founder and CEO of Mutt's Sauce LLC and OH Taste LLC; Director of the OH Taste Foundation (501c3), and creator of The Empower Collection. She is the author of the business empowerment book, Rock Bottom Has a Trampoline. She is a sought-after speaker and mentor for women's empowerment and small businesses and has also been a TEDx speaker. Her talent is cultivating influential people by meeting them where they are in life and business. Her military career spans over 15 years; she's currently an Air Force Reservist stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Charlynda and Mutt's Sauce have been featured in Yahoo! Finance, NPR, Forbes.com, QVC, Men's Journal, CBS News, NBCUniversal, Black Enterprise Magazine, and Military.com, among others. Charlynda was also featured in FUBU Founder and Shark Tank investor Daymond John's bestselling book POWERSHIFT.
Matt Slone has lived in the Greater Dayton Area his whole life. Born in Kettering and raised in Franklin, Matt learned from a young age the importance of community and how giving back is one of the more important parts of life. Matt went to school for middle school education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he was lucky enough to meet his wife, Kimberly. Matt taught in public schools for 13 years before deciding he needed a new challenge and has since been a Remote Software Implementation Specialist at Reynolds and Reynolds since August of 2023. Always trying to make a difference, Matt is also a member of the Oxford Masonic Lodge and a Shriner as part of Antioch Shrine in Dayton. Matt has also been an adjudicator for the SW Region Destination Imagination organization. As a proud dad to two wonderful sons (Killian and Cooper), Matt is used to putting on shows. He would like to thank his wife and kids for putting up with him, and his Grandma Terese and Grandpa Cliff for inheriting their boogie shoes.
Holly Sams (Walsh) is excited to be stepping into her dance shoes for this year's edition of Dancing with the Dayton Stars! Holly works as a director of Human Resources for Premier Health and believes that their mission to care, teach, innovate, and serve grounds her profession with a purpose. She holds a senior professional in human resources (SPHR) certification and is a graduate of Miami University. Holly was recognized as one of Dayton Business Journal's Forty Under 40 in 2021 and previously participated as a panelist for the wiBN Leadership Conference of Dayton/Miami Valley. She is an active volunteer in her community and resides in Springboro. Thanks to her family and friends for their love and encouragement!
Meredith Marks is a native Daytonian that is passionate about helping others live life to the fullest. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with years of experience providing mental health counseling to teens and adults. She received her Master's from Xavier University and currently works for Innovative Interchange as a Learning and Customer Engagement Manager. She loves the arts and is excited too help children live their dreams through dance. It's been years since she took a dance class and she is excited to put back on her dancing shoes for Special Wish Foundation!
Virgilio J Acevedo, Jr., is beyond excited to be part of this important fundraiser event. Virgilio moved to Dayton 35 years ago and had the pleasure to perform in local community theaters as an actor and director from 1987 to 2011. Some of the most beloved roles he played were Jesus in "Jesus Christ SuperStar," Paul in "A Chorus Line," and Bernardo in "West Side Story." He is currently director of continuous improvement for CareSource. In his free time, Virgilio enjoys long walks, fitness, traveling, dinner with friends, and spending time with family. He loves non-profit work and began volunteering for Equitas Health in 1990 and served on their board of directors for 12 years. He was Table Design Chair during five RED events and chaired RED 2021. He also served on the board of Five River MetroParks. Most recently he joined the board of East End Community Center.
Kevin Carter was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. He is a cybersecurity engineer by day and an improv performer by night. He is a man that loves his Dayton community. As a co-owner of The Black Box Improv Theater in downtown Dayton, he is all about bringing his community together and having fun. He is also the creator of the For Dayton By Dayton musical festival that happens every year at Five Rivers MetroParks RiverScape in the heart of downtown Dayton. He saw a vision to bring people together regardless of background for a day of celebrating our city. He is also a hip-hop artist by the stage name "K. Carter" and has performed on some of Dayton's biggest stages, which include the Levitt Pavilion and the Victoria Theater. To top it off he is the co-host of the podcast "The Novelizers" alongside Andy Richter. Kevin is a person that loves everybody and is all about enjoying the time we have on this planet.
