Chateau Palmer, designated a third-growth in the 1855 Classification, is one of the so-called "super seconds", chateaux whose consistent quality is said by many to rival that of the first-growths. The chateau is nestled in the heart of the Margaux appellation. The blend is 47% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, an unconventional combination for a left bank Bordeaux; this blend imparts Chateau Palmer's distinct elegance. This wine has reached full maturity but shows no signs of an early demise. The color is a dark ruby/garnet; the nose offers up black truffle, cassis, and meaty aromas. It is medium-bodied, silky-textured - an elegant wine.
