At Philadelphia Union Foundation, we are committed to changing the game on mental health. HeadFirst is our groundbreaking program aimed at promoting mental health awareness and providing support within the soccer community. We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health and that creating a strong support network is the key to a healthy, happy life.

Through HeadFirst, we offer a comprehensive program that includes 3 KEY COMPONENTS:

1. Digital Toolkit for players, parents, and coaches.
2. 'A Happier U' - in person education.
3. Annual Mental Health Forum

iAM PROJECT:

The iAM Project aims to address the harrowing effects of socio-economic inequality upon social mobility and to break the poverty cycle for every young person who joins our Program. Driven by a desire to challenge the status quo, The iAM Project supports aspirational high school students from low-income backgrounds, to maximize their personal, academic and professional potential.

INSPIRATION ~ ASPIRATION ~ MENTORSHIP

The iAM Project leverages a network of inspirational speakers, academic and professional mentors, innovative links to industry, universities, and internship providers to foster the knowledge, skills and interests that will afford our scholars opportunities. Our success comes from high levels of strategic partnerships and, a collaboration around a shared, purpose.

CHESTER SOCCER

Our mission is to provide the youth of Chester, PA, with a transformative soccer experience, under the direction of the Philadelphia Union and its Foundation. We aim to empower young athletes, instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and personal growth, while promoting access to the sport and fostering community engagement. Through soccer, we strive to create a positive impact in the lives of our players, their families, and the broader Chester community.

Chester Soccer Initiative is made up of 2 major components:

1. Chester Union, a philanthropic soccer club for Chester boys and girls of all ages.
2. Development, operation and funding of the High School Boys and Girl's teams of the Chester School District.

SAFE SPACES

Through our "Safe Spaces" initiative, in collaboration with other organizations that share our passion, we pledge to construct state-of-the-art mini pitches.

We have wholeheartedly aligned with the U.S. Soccer Foundation's ambitious vision of establishing 1,000 new specialized soccer arenas across the nation by 2026, aiming to promote healthier lifestyles and more active youth.
In 2015, the Union Foundation unveiled its inaugural Union-themed mini-pitch at Stetser Elementary School in Chester, PA. This momentum continued when a subsequent mini-pitch was inaugurated at Main Street Elementary School in Chester a few years later.

Marking a significant milestone in July 2019, the Philadelphia Union Foundation collaborated with Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer, Rebuild, and Parks & Recreation. This partnership aims to construct an impressive 15 mini-pitches and 2 standout fields over the forthcoming 5 years. To date we have constructed 4 and broke ground the next 1 and about to have the ground opening of the next 2.
