ARTIST STATEMENT
One of my greatest pleasures is picking up my paint brush and mixing colors on canvas or paper. Making the paint move, the colors interact, and the shapes relate to one another mesmerizes me. Because I hadn't painted in many years (while earning a living in the corporate world), I am remembering much about the crafting of a painting as well as learning many aspects new to me. As I am again exploring the basic genres of still life, landscapes, seascapes, the figure and non-representational composition, I am drawn to details and components, rather than the whole. All forms of water fascinate me from oceans to ice cubes! The sparkling splash of water on rocks is more interesting than the waterfall itself. The shadow of leaves on a tree trunk is more intriguing than the grove of trees. Through my art, I can share this magic and joy with the viewer.

This scene was inspired by the view from The Country Club of York toward Miller's Plant Farm.
