Painting and sketching has been a constant in Pat's life. Her initial painting studies began as a teen at the York Academy of Arts and followed through with a fine arts degree focused on sculpture and metal smiting. While she enjoyed a professional career working in museums and the non-profit world, once retired, she made a commitment to a rewarding daily painting practice.

Pats award winning art is now in numerous private collections. She has had several successful solo shows in Pennsylvania and Maryland and regularly exhibits her work in juried and group shows in the region. She has gained a reputation for focusing on small landscapes that provide an intimate interpretation of the space surrounding us

ARTIST STATEMENT

I make small oil paintings of big spaces focused on the rural landscape. I strive to interpret the broad skies and far horizons surrounding me with hope that the viewer may renew and refresh their own sense of place and wonder for the world.

Painting in oils, primarily on panels, I use painting knives and mark-making to parallel the texture of the land and sky. I began painting in a small format several years ago, mainly out of a desire to simplify and found working small is not only conducive to maintaining a daily painting practice but also affords me a greater opportunity to achieve my goal to provide a quiet, intimate interpretation of the land.
