Stella Dikos Cooking Lesson and Dinner for Eight
Join Stella Dikos herself for an exclusive cooking class and dinner for eight people with Greek wine pairings and dessert in the kitchen of Stella's Grocery on Lafayette Street. Stella will teach you and seven guests how to make a few of her specialties while you imbibe and listen to stories from this Richmond restaurant legend!
Born in Trikala, Thessaly, Nazi-occupied Greece, Stella Dikos learned to cook from friends and family as a teenager. After emigrating to the United States with her late husband Stavros, the couple opened Richmond's historic Village Cafe in 1956 and in the early 60's Stella joined behind the line, working day and night incorporating traditional Greek fare alongside American classics.
In 1983, the first restaurant in her namesake opened doors on Harrison street, just steps from the Village Cafe. After a successful run into the early 90's, the second iteration opened on Main Street in 1998, offering critically acclaimed eclectic cuisine. In 2011, Stella's moved to its current location on Lafayette Street where the restaurant serves as Stella's home.
One month advance notice is required for booking. Package is limited to Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday.
