Title: The Trailer in the Back

Artist: Donna Lochmann

Medium: Digital Photograph with repurposed wood window

Dimensions: 40" x 23.5"

Rescue Story:

Small towns south of St. Louis are in desperate need of rescue help. Most dogs are unaltered, many roam, are dumped or abandoned. The reports of animals in need come in daily.

The dogs at this property were abandoned when their owner was arrested. In total, there were 4 adults (one was a nursing mom), 2 older puppies and 4 puppies around 2 weeks old. There were also 3 deceased dogs.

The dog pictured here lived around back in the second trailer. The window was boarded up, but a small opening allowed him to peek out at anyone that approached. There was trash piled high on the porch and even an old broken refrigerator. Inside the trailer was garbage from one end to the other.

When it was this boys turn for rescue, he had managed to get out of the trailer and was roaming the property with the two black labs. When we set the trap, he was the first to make his way back and went right in. He was very fearful at first, but made friends at the shelter and is patiently waiting for his forever family.
