Title: No Where to Go
Artist: Donna Lochmann
Medium: Digital Photograph with repurposed wood window
Dimensions: 28" x 28"
Rescue Story:
The number of strays on the street has dwindled. Many of the strays we see now are dogs that seem to have been owned at one time, not a feral born on the street. Although abandoned by their owners, at least those dogs have a chance to find food, move to a shady spot or find warmth. Unlike the ones that live their lives at the end of a chain. These dogs have no choice about when (or if) they eat. They often barely have shelter and the chains are short and offer them no chance to even lay down away from where they go to the bathroom. They have a defeated look on their face and when I have seen them happy, it's when they see their owner come out. They jump for joy but get no response. Not a single pet or acknowledgment from the person. It's heartbreaking for them to never experience that love, yet remain so loyal.
