Russ's Rescue Story:
Russ was transferred to us for medical reasons. He has a broken pelvis and will need surgery to fix it. Poor Russ is paralyzed in his front leg as well. He will also need that leg amputated. He is the sweetest boy and has been a trooper through this journey. We cannot wait to see what his future holds.
Status: Adopted!
Artist Statement:
"My name is Maltak. I am a 29 year old St. Louis native. I am a self-taught artist that focuses on pet portraits, fantasy landscapes, tags, and cartoon-styled panels of my own pets. With a love of animals of all kinds and an interest in art. It is my greatest pleasure to donate a piece of my work in hopes of helping more animals.
When I heard Russ's story, I just knew what to do for him. The title means Kintsugi in English. It is the practice of repairing something with precious metals. Just like all the care and love put into Russ and his recovery to his loving home, artisans must use care and sometimes create new shards in order to repair their piece. Kintsugi is all about loving and appreciating something for its history , nor for or in spite of being broken, but as an item with its history being shown. Which, I'm sure, is why Russ' new family loves him so much. He's a very sweet boy who now has the opportunity to give all that love and care back."
