Diane Ortlieb grew up in Westchester County, New York where she studied ballet for 10 years. While taking dance classes in New York City, she regularly visited the Museum of Modern Art. In college at Albany State University, she took classes in Art History and Modern Art. She developed a love for French Impressionism, and when she retired in 2014, she returned to taking art classes at Saddleback College in Mixed Media. She is currently a member of The Orange County Fine Art Association.

Artist Statement:
I create my Art to be a fun, whimsical adventure. My goal is to make you smile and draw you into a colorful adventure. My process begins with images that I have either created or found. I then alternate between fixing my images to my canvas and painting until I see the color harmony and balance that I am trying to convey. My paintings are inspired by my love for animals, collage and photography. Especially cats, dogs and butterflies. My feeling about butterflies is "the more the merrier". I love to play with scale and perspective.
