Jules Feiffer, Way To Go, 2004
Iris Print
23 x 19 in.

With a legacy spanning over half a century, Jules Feiffer is well-known for his wit and levity. Some of his most recognized work is from his weekly contributions to The Village Voice. One of his passions is to capture the dancer form: male dancers, tap and jazz dancers, couples engaged in romantic ballroom poses and contemporary movements. These spontaneous drawings have been exhibited in galleries around the U.S. and were installed in large form ing the courtyard gallery of the World Financial Center.

Jules Feiffer (American, born 1929) is an internationally acclaimed cartoonist, illustrator, author, playwright, and screenwriter-his animated short, Munro, won an Oscar in 1961. His cartoon strip regularly appeared in The Village Voice for 40 years, for which he received a Pulitzer Prize. His works have appeared in the New York Times, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, Playboy, Esquire, and The Nation, and have been the subject for 19 books-including a recent graphic novel. Retrospectives of Feiffer's work were held at the Library of Congress and New York Historical Society. He has also exhibited at the Parrish Art Museum, Water Mill, NY; Center of Creative Arts, St. Louis; Eric Carle Museum, Amherst, MA; Katzen Art Museum, American University, Washington D. C.; Strohl Art Center in Chautauqua, NY; and Highland Park Art Center, IL.
