You and nine friends will enjoy a fascinating and fun tour exploring the history of gangsters right here in Oak Park and River Forest.

After the tour enjoy an authentic Italian dinner catered by Freddy's in Cicero. Dinner includes wine pairings, limoncello and Italian pastries. Dinner can be served either in the winner's home or the Binder's.

A superior quality bus from Ideal Charter will be used for the tour.

John Binder, Mob historian and author of The Chicago Outfit and Al Capone's Beer Wars, will be your guide on a private "There Goes the Neighbor Hood" tour of gangster history in Oak Park and River Forest. This exterior tour visits 14 houses which were once owned by major hoodlums, including Tony Accardo, Paul Ricca, Sam Giancana, "Tough Tony" Capezio, and "Machine Gun" Jack McGurn. He will discuss the former owners, the family's time there, the interesting features of each home (10 of which he has been in), including secret tunnels and hidden rooms, and answer questions.

The tour lasts approximately two hours and is a deep immersion into the history of organized crime in Chicago from Prohibition until the 1990s, focusing on the lives and careers of many of Chicago's most famous gangsters. It is by minibus with no walking required.

John has studied the history of organized crime in Chicago for over 20 years, covering its evolution from the 1800s to the present. He is regularly interviewed by the news media and was the historical consultant on the A&E Biography of Al Capone and their two hour documentary on the St. Valentine's Day Massacre as well as AMC's "Mob Week" and some 25 other documentaries. He has also worked with the Vegas Mob Museum and the Chicago History Museum.
