Bear Creek Golf Club, the private Rees Jones signature course in Hilton Head Plantation, is a
member-owned, member-managed club for those who wish to play the game as it was meant to
be. Our limited membership allows ready access for members and their guests. Hilton Head
Plantation is set on nearly 4,000 acres of breathtaking natural Lowcountry beauty and is bounded
by the Intracoastal Waterway and Port Royal Sound.
A Bit of History: In 1975, a group of Island residents tired of crowds, slow play and difficulties
getting tee-times. They decided to build a truly private golf club available to members no matter
where they lived with a small enough membership to preclude the necessity of tee times. The
group selected the renowned Rees Jones to create their special "gem." In fact Bear Creek was his
first golf course! On August 1, 1980, the Club opened and twenty-six years later, Rees Jones
returned to complete a renovation of the course, update his design, and improve his "gem." The
Club has hosted many prestigious events such as the 2014 Hilton Head Amateur and Hilton Head
