Six year old Sara was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder at the age of 4 years when her mother realized that she was not "outgrowing" things that she should have been. Her symptoms included underlying anxiety and nervousness, extreme fear of failure and perfectionism, sleep disturbances - especially difficulty settling to sleep, easily triggered anger and emotional outbursts, poor balance and coordination, toe walking, and so much more. Sara also had focus or tracking problems with her eyes and eventually received glasses. It was also found through testing that she has almost zero peripheral vision and that she needs light therapy.

Sara is currently being homeschooled and she loves it. Her favorite subjects are science and astronomy. Over the summer, Sara and her parents were at the beach during the meteor shower so they woke her up at 1 a.m. so that the three of them could watch it on the beach.

Sara can get a twelve week vision/light/sensory therapy session to improve her vision, visual-spatial perception, fine motor skills, and sensory issues. It also includes consults, follow up visits and several additional assessments at the end of the session.
