Special dinner for six cooked and served by the author/chef
Local author, former Editor of Surfer magazine, award winning restaurateur
and President of Oceanside's California Surf Museum, Jim Kempton has written
a new book First We Surf Then We Eat a cook book for the California surf
lifestyle.
He will host a special dinner party with for 6 at a date to be decided in December
or January. This will be a 4-course meal and will include aperitifs, appetizers, a
main course with accompaniment and a dessert as well as wine parings and after
dinner drinks. It will also include a personally signed first edition of the book
itself.
Based mostly on Kempton's own experiences, First We Surf Then We Eat is a
travel, surf adventure cookbook, with 90 recipes in ten chapters - each one a surf
region - Hawaii, Indonesia, France, Caribbean, Morocco, Peru, Mexico,
California, South Pacific, & Central America. Each chapter has short stories about
adventures, surf, restaurants and markets in the region followed by a recipe. It
includes recipes from Dale Velzy, Bethany Hamilton, John John Florence, Rell
Sunn, Donald Takayama, and other legendary surfers as well as a foreword by The
Surfers Journal Steve Pezman, plus photos by Jeff Divine, Art Brewer and Tom
Servais.
