THE PLAZA HOTEL

A fixture on Milwaukee's Lower East Side since the roaring twenties, the building was designed by architect George W. Adams and originally constructed as two buildings in 1925. The four-story Plaza is identifiable by its red brick exterior with stone trim and wrought iron details. Its historic Art Deco architecture is what first attracted the Crichton family to purchase The Plaza Hotel in 1984. They are just the second owners of the building, which has been thoughtfully renovated over the years to restore many of the stunning original architectural details while providing for the modern amenities and latest technology today's travelers demand.

The Café at the Plaza was originally a tea room where lady residents entertained guests. In 1950, the infamous lunch counter (as we know today) was installed and the Café at the Plaza was born.
