Statistically, children growing up in one-parent homes experience significant increased risk, particularly in the areas of education, illegal activity, and suicide. BBBSKC believes that youth who have a positive adult influence in his or her life are better able to reach their full potential. Bigs serve as friends, mentors and role models, helping youth gain greater self-confidence and leadership skills. This model has been proven effective in changing the self-image of the child and therefore his or her behavior.

Each year, The Independent magazine and Big Brothers Big Sisters selects and recognizes a new class of Most Wanted Auction Honorees. These individuals are selected by doing great things in the workforce and in the community. Each Honoree is tasked with coming up with their own fundraising campaign to benefit BBBSKC. These campaigns include coming up with online silent auction packages to count toward their overall fundraising totals. The online silent auction is now open! The Most Wanted Auction will be held on December 2 at The Midland. The Most Wanted Auction is not your average auction. It's a high-energy party with a lively auctioneer, great music, amazing food and drink and much more. You won't want to miss the opportunity to see this year's incredible class of KC's Most Wanted Honorees, bid on some unique live and silent auction packages and support BBBSKC and the life-changing friendships they create every day in the Kansas City community.
