Château Léoville Barton 2006 (12 bottles)

Saint-Julien, Bordeaux

Château Léoville Barton, a member of the vast Léoville estate, has produced second-growth Bordeaux blends since 1855. Located in the central part of Saint-Julien along the Gironde River, the clay and gravel subsoil has provided excellent growing conditions for the grapes, which consist of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Of the 2006 Château Léoville Barton, The Wine Advocate notes that the vintage "has a surprisingly rich and opulent bouquet at first, offering crushed violet and black cherry scents, reminiscent of a fine Margaux. The palate is mediumbodied with a gentle grip in the mouth."
