A Tasty Trio of Bordeaux Magnums
Château Cheval Blanc 2005 (1 magnum)
Château Lafite Rothschild 2005 (1 magnum)
Château Haut-Brion 2009 (1 magnum)
Saint-Émilion, Pauillac, Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux
From its introduction to the region by the Romans during the mid-first century to today, Bordeaux has become the largest wine growing area in France. All over the world wineries aspire to create wines in the style of Bordeaux, but all three vintages in this lot come straight from the source. Cathy and Bill Osborn have chosen three first-rate, magnum-sized bottles for your drinking pleasure!
The Château Cheval Blanc 2005 holds its own with a perfect rating from Robert Parker. His review can barely contain his excitement: "I don't mean to gush, but it is super-intense, rich, and just so meticulously crafted!" The Château Lafite Rothschild 2005, on the other hand, can be better defined as an elegant representation that unfurls over time in the glass. Its payoff comes in the form of a beautifully balanced poise over the intensity of fruit. Finally, the Château Haut-Brion 2009 packs a punch from its complex blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc-not to mention, the highest alcohol volume ever achieved from the estate (14.3%)! In this magnum, find the aromatics of plums, blueberries, and unsmoked cigar tobacco.
Generously contributed by Cathy and Bill Osborn in honor of Shirley Welsh Ryan
