Travel the globe without taking a step - these coveted bottles come from the furthest ends of the earth.
Although we are a wine auction (emphasis on the wine!), Ken Fredrickson, in partnership with Tenzing Wine & Spirits, has assembled such an incredible selection of rare whiskies that we couldn't resist featuring this lot in the live auction.
In 2015, Forbes released a list of "Ten Japanese Whiskies to Try Now," and all four of the Japanese whiskies from this lot are featured on that list: Nikka Taketsuru, Mars Shinshu, Akashi, and Ichiro's. From the ease of the Taketsuru to the Ichiro's zeal, taste the many shades of Japanese whisky from this spread.
Next, your palate will head to Taiwan for two different types of Kavalan Distillery whiskies, Taiwan's first whiskymaker and the only family-owned distillery of its kind in that region. The subtropical island's pure water and fresh air combine for the ideal whisky production environment.
Of course, what kind of worldwide whisky tour would this be without a stop in Scotland? The Glenrothes and The Lost Distillery Company are each represented with a full-bodied bottle that defines their label.
Make your return to America (where we spell whiskey with an "e") and have a taste of Vermont. The Vermont WhistlePig was only produced in a batch of 30 barrels, and its rarity is matched with a delicate balance of power and nuance. Then try a taste of High West Distillery's 2018 Bourye (pronounced "boo-rye")-a unique and premium blend of rich boubon and rye whiskey.
For the finale, we present our favorite Kentucky bourbon: the 23- year, limited edition Pappy Van Winkle. This bottle won the 2008 Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Happy trails, fellow travelers!
