The 2011 Grenache is the ultimate crowd-pleaser, with nicely integrated acidity, no hard edges, and a terrific finish. As for the 2011 Syrah, Manfred Krankl has kept his label at the top of its game with flavors of graphite, smoked meats, pepper, and black raspberry. The texture is rich and full-bodied without losing any of its sweet grace, a balance hard to find.

Sine qua non is a Latin phrase that translates literally to "without which nothing," or a condition that is absolutely necessary. We are convinced that these bottles are the sine qua non to the auction's success. Refuse to go home without winning this lot!
