The Wines of Côte de Nuits

Domaine du Clos de Tart Grand Cru Monopole 2014 (12 bottles)

Hospices de Beaune Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Cuvee Madeleine Collignon Domaine Ponsot 2014 (12 bottles)

Côte de Nuits, Burgundy

The Côte de Nuits is located in the northernmost area of The Côte d'Or, which is a limestone ridge that makes up the heart of the Burgundy wine region in France. There are more than one hundred Grand Cru vineyards in Côte de Nuits today, and we have two cases of the absolute best.

Located at the southern end of Morey-Saint-Denis, Clos de Tart has remained a Monopole, single vineyard Domaine since its inception in the twelfth century. With just under twenty acres on the slopes above the village, this Pinot Noir soars with soil rich in limestone and marl, allowing for vibrant and bold flavors to emerge. The Wine Advocate notes that the 2014 vintage has "a well defined bouquet with cranberry and wild strawberry fruit, fine mineral tones and is quite harmonious with hints of limestone. Blackberry, wild cherry with a hint of cola, and certainly more tangible mineralité are found on the finish."

The 2014 Hospices de Beaune hails from Domaine Ponsot, one of the most respected winemakers in Burgundy. Allan Bulley purchased a barrel at the 155th Hospices de Beaune Auction in 2014 and shares his personal allocation with us tonight. The bottles carry the inscription, "This wine was bottled by Domaine Ponsot for Allan E. Bulley, Jr. GPG Chevalier du Tastevin 1999-2001." Carrying on a tradition of excellence, this wine will never be on retail shelves unless produced by another winemaker, so take advantage of this incredible lot tonight!

Generously contributed by Allan E. Bulley, Jr.
