"Circles and Corks"

The students in the Juniper class love everything to do with color, paint and loose parts. Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's "Squares with Concentric Circles" painting, the children studied shapes and how to mix colors. Each child created their own square with circles, choosing how many circles they drew inside their square as well as the colors they painted each shape.

Using these individualized paintings, the children glued corks (1,200 to be exact!) that they previously painted into a shadow box, replicating their designs. Once the shadow box was filled with corks, a new "Squares with Concentric Circles" had been created!

Special thanks to the Early Childhood Faculty for their extraordinary donation of time and talent!
