"Painting in Action"
Magnolia students love to paint--and move! Seeing their fascination with dripping glue from their bottles, we encouraged the students to explore "dripping" with the use of different colored acrylic paints in squeeze bottles. This led to playing with the different patterns made through speed and force. For further experimentation, the children were offered a swing from which they could drip onto a canvas, as well as various loose parts and various mediums. We practiced for many days perfecting the "drip" on paper before we began our collaborative work on canvas. Some friends chose not to swing and others practiced many times before they built up their courage to paint and swing.
The finished art piece is a story of the journey of each child and their love of sharing their interests and experience with others.
Special thanks to the Early Childhood Faculty for their extraordinary donation of time and talent!
