Join Old Irving Brewing Co.'s head brewer, Trevor Rose-Hamblin, and brew a batch of beer on their 15 barrel system.

The day is entirely hands on: you'll smell, touch and taste all the raw ingredients and learn about brewing history, processes and the science behind the art. Multiple beer samples and lunch is also provided.

The brewpub at 4419 W. Montrose Ave. in Chicago debuted six of its own beers on tap, along with a handful of other craft brews available in bottles and cans, and has been a smash hit on the restaurant scene since it opened in the fall of 2016.

The menu, developed by co-owner Matthias Merges and chef Michael Shrader, hits a number of unexpected highlights. The pigs feet croquettes are Instagram-friendly, and the wood-fired seafood salad is a departure from more typical greens offerings. Sandwiches include a veggie option, as well as a BLTA (the usual suspects, plus avocado).
